THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in convergence with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has completed the concreting of three access roads worth P35.45 million to support agricultural communities in the town of Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Engineer Cayamombao Dia, DPWH regional director, said the concreting of the three access road projects were undertaken by the agency’s 2nd District Engineering Office in Zamboanga Sibugay.
Dia said the three projects are as follows: from Mirangan village to Balucanan stretching 484 meters; from Barangay Coloran to Paruk village spanning 455 meters; and, Barangay Dacanay to Barangay Sumama, with a length of 367 meters.
Dia said the first project was worth P13 million; second, P12.5 million; and, third, P10 million.
Dia said the upgraded two-lane roads now enable more convenient transportation of goods and farm produce to bigger markets, benefiting the calamansi, coconut, and rubber industries in Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay.
“With the completion of these projects, local communities can also expect more livelihood opportunities, boosting the economic growth of the province,” Dia said in a statement on Wednesday, September 13.
She said the road concreting projects were undertaken through the Roads Leveraging Linkages of Industry and Trade (Roll-It) Program with the DTI.
