MANILA, Philippines — The entire length of the Metro Manila Subway project (MMSP) will be under construction by November, acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said yesterday.
Remaining segments of the project will be awarded to contractors before year-end, Lopez said.
Terms of contract packages for the southern leg of the MMSP are being negotiated, he said.
All segments of the project have been awarded to contractors except for Kalayaan to Bonifacio Global City, Lawton to Senate and the airport line.
The P488.5-billion MMSP, co-funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, is set for completion by 2032.
Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) kicked off yesterday the construction of the MMSP’s Ortigas station after a two-year delay.
Megawide Construction Corp. is building Ortigas station, which the DOTr expects to be finished in three years.
